Grado RS1i
$700.00
Released March, 2009
The Pros:Offers "true" audio reproduction very pleasing to audiophiles. Feel great over the ears--sit comfortably and don't get less comfortable over long periods of use. Outstanding bass depth (rated at 12 Hz) that is noticeably deep and tight without overwhelming the sound.
The Cons:Open design allows lots of outside noise to come in and music to bleed out. The headband, while leather, feels very thin and cheap. Mids are less well-represented compared to more expensive Grado headphones.
Re-introduced in March 2009 with a slightly tweaked and improved driver, the RS1i is a high end headphone and the masterpiece of the Grado collection, a top-of-the-line product which oozes class both in looks and sound.

Utilizing handcrafted mahogany earpieces made using an intricate curing process, Grado has been able to optimize the tonal quality and create a distinct luxurious image for this $700 headphone. Only recently outclassed by the $1000 Grado GS-1000, and $1400 PS-1000, the RS1 still maintains its own distinct aesthetics and smooth, coherent sound with detailed dynamics.
