Sennheiser HD 25-1 II

$350.00 Released September, 2004

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Well respected for professional as well as regular consumer use. Good amount of external isolation. Comfortable yet snug velour pads.

The Cons:Poor naming conventions mislead consumers into purchasing the inferior SP version. Expensive.

The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II is a set of high-end, closed-back dynamic headphones made for professional sound monitoring in studios/sound testing labs and for dj's as well. These are very stable and will stay on even after some serious head-nodding thanks to the split-headband sturdy design.

Product Shot 2 The rotatable ear cups allow the dj to perform one-ear listening which is critical for proper mixing. A seal is made between the headphone and the ear, keeping sound in and ambient noise out. This is important for mixing in noisy environments like clubs, parties, and also professional environments like studios. This is due to the closed-back, supra-aural design which means the speaker rests on top of the ear without totally covering it and the sound cannot escape out of the back. The cable is one-sided, only connecting to one side to power both speakers for easier use and a carrying pouch is included for storage and travel.

savo: #sennheiser_hd_25_1_ii I'd be curious to know differencies with original HD 25 and this new HD 25 II models, if any.. . . Nov 14, 10

Yale: I'm assuming the HD 25, HD 25-II and HD 25-1-IIs are the same headphone, just newer revisions of the same model. I know there are big differences between the models of the HD 25 II's however- It seems like the HD 25-1-II is the latest iteration of the pro model - the one that I recommend. I was able to hear the pro version of the last generation (HD 25-II) and I have to say they're great all-around headphones, even for use on the go - very forward and bassy (maybe too much if you like more of a balance) and great overall sound quality and isolation. savo: I asked also from Sennheiser directly and got quick response. =)

Guy knew their products very well and told me basically that those new II models came because they added new accessories, different cable versions etc.
But technically original HD 25 and HD 25 II are the same.

    Most importantly same frequency responsies.

I allready forgot some the info that i found out. =/ It would be best if they say this in their site too.
I saw all this trouble because i just lost my original HD 25 's and wanted to know if it matters which version i will buy for replacement. Of course i want as good as the original but if there were some improvements i would take newer model.

Now i know that it doesnt matter for me. I can check second hand market as well.. Nov 17, 10

Yale: #sennheiser_hd_25_1_ii Tried these for a brief moment at a recent head-fi meet. I really enjoyed them, but I preferred my SR80s to them at the time - besides their superior isolation. Were the first pair of headphones I suggested my gf get for use out and about. She ended up getting the PXC-250 which was probably a better choice... Still, can't say I like the idea of active noise canceling, and these seem to be one of the only alternatives to IEMs. Nov 4, 08
