Sennheiser HD 25-SP II
$180.00
Released November, 2007
The Pros:Offer extreme precision in the upper ranges, no distortion or tin. Passive noise canceling is very effective, blocks out surrounding noises well. Capable of producing a wide range of frequencies faithfully.
The Cons:Contacts on the cord become worn quickly. Physically don't feel like they can take an impact well. Unsuitable for use with an iPod, impedance is too high.
The Sennheiser HD 25-SP II are a set of closed-back dynamic headphones designed for professional sound monitoring in outdoor environments, studios, and sound testing labs. This is a lower-cost alternative to the HD-25 II, with a simpler headband and marginally different capsule design.

These headphones rest on top of the ear without surrounding them due to the supra-aural design, and they are closed which means no sound can escape or enter. This is arguably not as good as an 'open' design sonically but for noisy environments like clubs and studios it is a must. The cable is detachable from the headphones and the soft headband and earpads make for prolonged periods of wear.
